Student, NSTI Chennai, Tamil Nadu

“I moved from agriculture to building an app for farmers, and now I’ve secured a role in tech,” says Sountharya, now working as a Customer Support Executive at Omega Healthcare.

Coming from a family where her father works as a courthouse assistant and her mother is a homemaker, Sountharya initially pursued agriculture and government exams. When the pandemic affected their finances, she took up freelance writing to support them. Her interest in technology’s role in farming led her to explore AI and ML.

Before the program, Sountharya had no coding experience and faced doubts about learning tech in just months. The structured curriculum and clear instruction helped her build a strong foundation in Python, SQL, Machine Learning, and tools like Power BI.

Creating her “Helper for Farmers” app—which detects crop diseases, recommends crops, and tracks market prices—allowed her to combine her agricultural background with new technical skills. Through design thinking and public speaking sessions, she gained confidence in presenting and teamwork, which shone during interviews.

Today, Sountharya has been offered a position with a CTC of over ₹2,50,000 and aims to become an AI Engineer in agriculture. “This program connected my past with my future,” she shares. “It gave me the skills to build solutions for farmers and the confidence to pursue my dreams.”
