Teacher, Delhi Public School Patiala

“Earning this badge reflects my commitment to continuous learning and growth,” says Ms. Jasmine Kaur, who recently completed the IBM SkillsBuild professional skills program.

As an educator, Ms. Kaur recognized the need to move beyond conventional approaches to problem-solving and wanted to strengthen her ability to think both critically and creatively in her professional role.

Before the program, she felt she needed more structured strategies to analyze situations effectively and design innovative solutions. The training introduced practical methods through real-world scenarios and engaging activities. She learned to evaluate challenges from multiple perspectives and develop solutions that are both impactful and practical.

Earning the Professional Skills badge in Solving Problems with Critical and Creative Thinking validated her new skill set and boosted her confidence to apply these approaches in the classroom and beyond. Today, Ms. Kaur applies these strategies to tackle professional challenges with greater clarity and adaptability. She also aims to inspire her students and colleagues to approach problems with a more innovative mindset. “The program didn’t just teach me skills—it empowered me to think differently,” she shares.

Grade 11 Student, New Horizon Gurukul, Bangalore

“The program taught me to face challenges bravely and see every problem as an opportunity,” says Lipitha, a Grade 11 student who participated in an IBM SkillsBuild project-based learning session.

As a high school student, Lipitha was looking for learning experiences that extended beyond textbooks and offered practical, real-world relevance. Before the program, she had limited exposure to structured innovation or collaborative problem-solving in a workshop setting.

During the three-day project-based learning session, she worked with peers to identify real-world problems and design creative solutions. The collaborative environment and guided activities encouraged her to think innovatively and present her ideas confidently. One memorable activity—creating and presenting a chart—allowed her to share her thoughts and learn from the diverse ideas of other students, strengthening her teamwork and communication skills.

Today, Lipitha carries forward greater confidence in creative thinking and collaborative problem-solving. She plans to continue engaging in skill-building opportunities that blend learning with real-world impact. “Skill development can be exciting and practical,” she reflects. “This experience showed me how much we can achieve when we work together.”
