A Student-Led Movement for Educational Equity

The Society for Inclusive Education (SIE) India was a pioneering, student-led initiative committed to transforming the educational landscape by filling in critical access gaps. SIE operates through a growing network of over 183 chapters in schools and colleges, and had united more than 1,010 members in a common mission. Their goal was to push the boundaries of learning and set new benchmarks by providing high-quality educational resources to all learners, regardless of socio-economic background or geography, thus making “ubiquitous learning for all” a tangible reality.

A Three-Pillar Model for Holistic Development

SIE delivers on its mission through a comprehensive three-pillar approach designed to supplement traditional education. The program provided students with crucial access to technology and core future skills, essential life skills and hobbies, and additional academic support. This holistic curriculum is delivered through a flexible,  online model that leveraged volunteer trainers from across India and even globally. Utilizing live sessions and various digital platforms, SIE creates a global community of learners and educators, effectively replacing or complementing traditional classrooms and removing geographical barriers—a model whose value was powerfully underscored during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Sustainable model for Change

The initiative had directly benefited over 551 learners, providing digital access and engaging flasses in subjects such as English and the arts. Testimonials highlight its profound effect: school administrators noted restored trust and better learning outcomes when promised resources were delivered, while students expressed joy at finally having reliable access to study materials. From its pilot phase with The Happy School in Gurgaon, SIE has grown into a sustainable movement where student members identify underserved schools, manage fundraisers for infrastructure, and personally mentor beneficiaries, creating a ripple effect.
